Fixtures at the same house parties on Manhattan’s Upper West Side and in Brooklyn’s Park Slope, Jeff and Andrea spent several years traveling with the same crowd but without much direct interaction. Jeff attributed this distance to Andrea’s tattoo of a swallow on her left arm which intimidated him with its coolness. As for Andrea, she hadn't yet realized that Jeff was an exact match for the Ideal Partner List she had created (admittedly corny and inspired by The Secret).

Everything changed at a dinner party in the winter of 2008 when Jeff and Andrea were seated next to each other; her jokey keyboard playing coupled with his nonsense improvised lyrics created a sound so, um, unique that many guests were driven from the room, giving our two heroes time and space to discover everything else they had in common.
